Protecting your car from the sun is very important. The sun uv rays can be very damaging to your cars paint. Oxidation , fading, cracking if clear coat can all be reprocusions of an unprotected vehicle.
Here are a few ways this summer to keep your cars paint protected and looking great all season.
1: Garage the thing!
This is the most obvious , if you have a garage by all means use it! Storing your vehicle in an enclosed area can protect it from uv ray fading, acid rain, pollen and other harmfull natural elements Mother Nature may bring. If you do not have a garage you could also invest into a car port,or car cover, harbour freight has great deals on these this time of year.Although covering your vehicle is the best way to protect it is only going to protect while being stored, so read the next two for protection while your vehicle is in use.
2: Waxes and Sealants.
Having a good wax and/or sealant available is essential for every car enthusiast to have in their garage or home. Carnauba waxes are amongst the most common waxes used by car owners.
Carnauba waxes: Collinite makes a great line of waxes such as their marque de elegance and their auto paste wax. Acumen Auto "pure carnauba" is also a great paste wax made with 100% carnauba. These waxes are great and leave a nice "wet look" shine to your vehicle while lasting on average 30-60 days for protection. Paste waxes are great but can be difficult to take off after applying, I recommend doing it panel by panel at a time. Acumen Auto's Cherry wax is fortified with carnauba waxes as well and is a thick creamy substance and is much easier to take off after applying. Cherry wax can be applied to the whole car allowing to dry and then proceed to remove. The quality of results between a past wax and cream wax is pure preference though some believe that paste waxes leave a better shine and help to mask swirls and imperfections more than liquid carnauba waxes.
Sealants: Sealants will protect your vehicle for much longer than any carnauba wax. You can apply both but is usually better to apply the sealant first because you need to allow it to cure for it to work the way it's suppose to. Curing process for sealants are typically 1-24 hours the longer left on the longer it will protect. Be sure to apply sealant in a cool shaded area. 1 hour should give you the results you need and leave your car protected for 6 months -1 year.
Acumen Auto's revive series polymer sealant and wax is a great product and has been designed to do both steps in one. It had a unique blend of carnauba waxes and polymer sealants to make for one easy step. Acumen Autos revive sealant also contains a very effective hand glaze to help get a maximum shine and to fill and hide any inperfections in your vehicles paint, it can be applied by and or with a da polisher or an orbital buffer (not a rotary). Apply to the whole vehicle and then remove, although it does cure faster than most sealants and can be taken off as soon as it dries leaving on for an hour or more will maximize protection.
3: Get your car detailed.
If applying waxes and sealants sound over whelming to you or you just don't feel you have the time with your busy schedule call Acumen Auto or you local detailer and ask about what's included in their detailing packages as far as waxes or sealants. Most details include a wax at the end of the process but require an additional charge for sealant applications. Hopefully this information helps you to know how to properly care for your vehicles paint this summer, so get to it and get your car, truck or bike ready for your upcoming weekend cruises!
